THESE DAYS, IT SEEMS WE'RE ALL LIVING OUT OF OUR CARS.  RUNNING TO AND FROM WORK, LOADING UP THE KIDS TO DROP AT THE BALL PARK, PICKING UP GROCERIES, KNOCKING OUT ERRANDS, SHUTTLING FAMILY AROUND, SQUEEZING IN DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS AND SO MUCH MORE!  HOW MANY TIMES TO WE PICK UP FOOD ON THE RUN?  HOW ANY TIMES DO WE EAT IN OUR CAR?  CRUMBS FALLING AS WE THROW BURGERS DOWN OUR THROAT, FRENCH FRIES GETTING DROPPED INTO THE LITTLE CRACKS AND CREVICES.   SOMETIMES WE'RE SO TIRED, WE'RE HAPPY TO MAKE IT HOME, PUT ON COMFY CLOTHES AND CALL IT A DAY.  WE MAY NOT EVEN REMEMBER TO THROW THAT FAST FOOD TRASH OUT.  MAYBE WE PITCH IT THE NEXT MORNING OR MAYBE IT JOINS THE GRAVEYARD OF OTHER FAST FOOD TRASH AND HALF EATEN MORSELS ON THE FLOOR BOARD OR IN THE CARGO AREA.

NEXT TIME YOU EXIT YOUR VEHICLE, TAKE A SECOND TO REMOVE ANY TRASH ACCUMULATED FROM THE DAY.  MAKING A HABIT OF PICKING UP THE MESS PROMPTLY CAN SAVE YOU MONEY, A HASSLE AND THE HEEBIE JEEBIES LATER ON.  ROACHES AND CRITTERS CAN SMELL TRASH IN YOUR VEHICLE.  JUST BECAUSE IT'S METAL AND IT'S LOCKED UP DOESN'T MEAN THEY CAN'T FIND A WAY IN.  OH, AND THEY WILL!  OH, AND THEY DO!  PEOPLE THINK THEIR VEHICLE IS LIKE A SPACESHIP, ALL SEALED UP WITH NO WAY IN, BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE.  ONCE THEY TAKE UP RESIDENCE IN YOUR VEHICLE, IT'S VERY TRICKY TO GET RID OF THEM.  YOU CAN EXTERMINATE YOUR VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL NOT KILL THEM ALL.  IN WHICH CASE, YOU WILL HAVE TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.  I MEAN, UNLESS YOU'RE AOK WITH MULTI-LEGGED INSECTS CRAWLING UP YOUR PANTS LEG WHILE YOU'RE NAVIGATING MALFUNCTION JUNCTION ON I4.  MAYBE THEY'RE TICKLING UP YOUR ARM AS YOU DRIVE OR MAYBE IT'S JUST YOUR OWN HAIR.  EITHER WAY, WE ALL KNOW ONCE YOU GET THE HEEBIE JEEBIES, THEY'RE HARD TO SHAKE.  


WE ALL GET BUSY.  WE ALL EAT FOOD IN OUR CAR AND ON THE RUN.  BEFORE YOU LEAVE TRASH TO ACCUMULATE IN YOUR CAR, JUST CONSIDER THOSE ROACHES AND CRITTERS ARE CONSTANTLY IN SEARCH OF FOOD AND THEY WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SETTLE IN WHERE THE MEALS KEEP COMING.  UNLESS THEY'RE HELPING YOU DRIVE AND PUTTING GAS IN YOUR TANK, CUT THOSE SUCKERS OFF WITH THIS EASY TIP.  CLEAR OUT THE TRASH PROMPTLY.

Often times people want to negotiate via email or over the phone without seeing the vehicle in person.  Our suggestion is to come on in and test drive the vehicle first.  If you like the vehicle then we have something to talk about.  Negotiating on a vehicle you haven't seen or know you want can be a mute point.  If you've eye balled the vehicle and driven it, you are better equipped to negotiate &/or discuss the vehicle.


There are times people bring an adviser.  It can be a trusted friend/family member or a mechanic.  We always welcome anything that will bring you peace of mind when making a high dollar purchase.  In some cases, an adviser can feel pressure to make sure you get the best deal possible and can actually sabotage a healthy negotiation.  They may also feel pressure because should something not go right, they worry you will point your finger at them.  Most people don't want to be held responsible for what is ultimately your decision.  Bring your trusted adviser, but remember this is your money, your purchase, your loan, your decision. 


Consider prices are made after reviewing multiple factors.  We make note of or address the vehicles needs during triage.  We weigh out the cost of repair vs lowering the price.  In some cases, we have a part on order and repair is pending receipt.  It could be that the part is on back order, so we've discounted the price to accommodate that issue.  Ask us about it and we're happy to fill in the blanks.  We encourage open & honest dialogue.  Puffing out your chest and telling us it's a crummy vehicle isn't a negotiation tactic.  By all means, address concerns.  Ask questions.  We encourage open communication and transparency.  No need to huff and puff.  Let's have a conversation.


There are 3 most common negotiation tactics.  Appeal to financial gain, appeal to a common interest, hard ball.  Hard ball is an option when you have leverage.  For example, you have more than we're asking for a down payment and want to negotiate the payment amounts.  If you're short on the down payment, hard ball is not the best tactic.

Oh boy.  We see it time and time again.  People who ignore the signs their car needs help or maintenance.  It's not as hard as you may think.  For one, you have a story board or cluster board that alerts you to things a miss.  Check it regularly.  You also have your instinct.  Trust it regularly.  When you ignore the signs your vehicle gives, what could be a simple repair or fix becomes a much bigger problem.  Today, I'm on my way to work.  I suddenly feel my car shake and the wheel rattling around in my hands.  I get out, walk around and inspect the car.  Everything looks great.  Maybe it was the road I was on?  There were several pot holes and dimples in the tar, so I get back behind the wheel and proceed.  I decide, no, there's definitely something wrong!  I drive slowly to the tire shop.  They inspect the tires and whadda ya know!  There's 3 HUGE bubbles on the inside and it's seconds from blowing.  Had I ignored my instincts because it "looked" OK, I would no doubt have been left stranded somewhere on the highway.  Maybe even bent the rims up and costing myself a LOT more money.  In 10 minutes, I was back on the road in a SAFE vehicle for $35.00.  I can't ask you all enough.  Please don't ignore the signals your vehicle offers.  If something is a miss, do your due diligence to identify the problem and address it.
