Roney Auto Sales was built out of a labor of love. As a young boy, Bill Roney saved up money from his paper route to buy his first car at 16 years old; a '52 Plymouth Belvedere. It was then he fell in love with anything and everything that had wheels. Bill met his wife, Judy, while he was in the Air Force and stationed at McDill AFB. They married four months later. They have been happily married for 44 years.

In the 70's, Bill and Judy owned a small car lot in Tampa. In 1984, they opened a car lot on the corner of State Road 574 & Granfield in Plant City. With no advertising, the Roney family soon earned a local reputation for providing a good selection of cars at fair prices and personable service. From there, the business was built slowly through word of mouth. Today, we are happy to say our book of business is compiled of repeat business, customer referrals and local family's next generation buyers. In 2013, Bill was able to finally buy a '53 Ford F100, he had his eye on for almost 10 years! It has since become the Roney Auto Sales mascot and is featured on the home page.

Bill Roney is also a retired Captain from the Tampa Fire Department, where he served approximately 30 years. Now, he focuses all his time to the car lot and finding a good selection of inventory. Judy retired in 1999, to pursue her love of painting and writing. She consistently lends her savvy business knowledge to contribute to Roney Auto Sales overall success.

Larry Taylor came on board as our salesman in 2006 and quickly became part of the Roney Auto family. Larry moved to Florida from Maryland, and has over 30 years of car business experience and connections. He quickly earned a permanent position at Roney Auto Sales, as well as the trust of our local community.

Jeni Roney Filipkowski is Bill & Judy's daughter. She was a Customer Service Supervisor, managing a team of 20 agents. Jeni retired from Progressive Insurance Company after 22 years, and made the gradual transition to become a part of the family business in 2011.
